Time to 'Paws' for Chubb Classic's Financial Support of Humane Society Naples
By Doug Milne
NAPLES, Fla. - Mahatma Gandhi once noted “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
While that insistence may not have been the specific impetus behind the gesture, this week’s Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO is indeed placing a big focus on the love of and well-being of dogs and cats in Southwest Florida.
A new and innovative Chubb initiative this week is the Chubb Classic’s Healthy Paws Adoption Event and Donation Drive. Healthy Paws, acquired by Chubb in 2024, provides pet insurance for dogs and cats. The organization remains a leader in that arena, providing care for over 500,000 cats and dogs across the United States.
“Healthy Paws pet insurance is just that….insurance for your dog or cat,” Kristin Puramsetti, vice president and head of marketing for Healthy Paws said. “I personally think it’s very important, because you never know when an accident will happen. Statistics show that, roughly, one in every three pets will have a severe injury each year. Apparently, toddlers don’t eat socks, but dogs do. So, we want to be there in those times of need.”
Healthy Paws has paired with the Humane Society Naples for a pet adoption event and donation drive on site at the Chubb Classic Thursday through Sunday. Not only can fans visit the ‘Paws Around Town Bus’ on the Tito’s Champions Lawn from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday-Sunday, but they can also learn more about Healthy Paws, Humane Society Naples and, of course, spend hands-on time with pets needing adoption, love and care.
“Every year, Chubb does a number of things motivated by giving back,” Puramsetti added. "Healthy Paws is a new company we acquired in June of 2024. In addition to highlighting the Healthy Paws product, we also wanted to partner with an incredible organization like the Humane Society Naples to showcase these beautiful animals that need to be adopted…and insured.”
As part of this event, fans will be able to donate to the Humane Society Naples throughout tournament week. The Chubb Classic will match total donations up to $5,000.
“We have been the title sponsor of this event for 27 years, and over those 27 years, this event has become so much more than just a golf tournament,” said Juan Luis Ortega, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group and President, North America Insurance. “At Chubb, we are committed to giving back to the communities we serve, and Healthy Paws' partnership with the Humane Society Naples at the Chubb Classic underscores that commitment.”
“I just want to sincerely thank Healthy Paws and Chubb for the support of Humane Society Naples,” said Dave Feenan, Humane Society Naples Senior Philanthropy Officer. “It’s a tremendous partnership and we are honored to be here with you. We sincerely appreciate the support. All the money raised over the next few days for Humane Society Naples will go directly towards our services, which is primarily finding happy new homes for all our dogs and cats.”
“This collaboration with the Humane Society Naples showcases our commitment to helping dogs and cats find loving homes,” Ortega said. “It also offers ways for us to protect our pets, so they can live long and happy lives.”
“Chubb is – and has been – such a great sponsor for the tournament,” said PGA TOUR Champions player and dog lover, Tim Petrovic, who couldn’t resist stopping by and playing with the pets Thursday afternoon. “We appreciate that, as well as the decision to partner with Humane Society Naples, because these dogs deserve to have homes.”
On behalf of Chubb and Healthy Paws, an initial offering of $5,000 was provided to Humane Society Naples Thursday afternoon.
“That $5,000 was a surprise, which we are very grateful for,” said Feenan. “We truly value the partnership we’ve had for a few years now with Chubb. We couldn’t be happier.”
“It is an honor for us to partner with Chubb and Healthy Paws, a Chubb Company, to give back and provide a platform for Humane Society Naples right here in our community,” said Sandy Diamond, executive director of the Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO. “We look forward to spreading awareness, raising donations and, hopefully, helping some furry friends find a loving home during tournament week.”
“The Chubb Classic is a win-win community event,” said Feenan. “Not only does this whole community support it, but Chubb supports this whole community. It’s an event everyone looks forward to every year.”
