Chubb Classic Announces Final Field List

Includes 10 Hall of Fame members, 8 past champions and 35 / 36 of the Top Players from the 2016 Charles Schwab Cup Standings

Naples, Fla. – The PGA TOUR Champions and Chubb Classic officials announced the final field for the 30th anniversary of the Chubb Classic, taking place February 13 – 19, at The TwinEagles Club.  Eight past champions, 10 Hall of Fame members and 35 of the top 36 players from the 2016 Charles Schwab Cup standings are represented.

“The Naples community has put forth tremendous support of the Chubb Classic for 30 years, and I’m excited to return to TwinEagles to compete in this year’s event,” said Fred Couples.  “Winning my first PGA TOUR Champions title here [Naples PGA TOUR Champions event] in 2010 was a special moment in my career, and I’m hopeful that I can build on that success next week.”

The 2017 Chubb Classic field welcomes new additions to the PGA TOUR Champions and many new faces to Naples such as John Daly, David Toms, Jerry Kelly, Jose Maria Olazabal, Paul Broadhurst and Billy Mayfair.  See below for a complete field list.

Kids 17 and younger will receive free admission to the tournament when accompanied by a ticketed adult.  The Chubb Classic also provides free general admission to all active and retired military personnel with valid Military ID.

Gary Player to Make Honorary Tee Shot at the 2017 Chubb Classic

Chubb Classic celebrates 30 years with inaugural 1988 champion, Gary Player

Naples, Fla. – Chubb Classic officials announced today that Gary Player, the 1988 inaugural champion, will be in attendance at the 2017 Chubb Classic to help celebrate its 30th anniversary in southwest Florida.  The Chubb Classic will take place February 13 – 19 at The TwinEagles Club.

Regarded as one of the greatest players in golf history, Mr. Player has won 167 tournaments world-wide spanning seven decades and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974.  Mr. Player is a three-time champion of the Masters Tournament (1961, 1974, 1978) and The Open Championship (1959, 1968, 1974), while also having claimed victories at the PGA Championship (1962, 1972) and U.S. Open (1965) throughout his career on the PGA Tour.  He is still one of only 5 golfers ever to complete the Grand Slam of all four Major Championships.

The year 1988 marked the PGA TOUR Champions first year in Naples held at The Club at Pelican Bay.  Mr. Player finished top of the leaderboard by one stroke to become the events inaugural champion for his ninth PGA TOUR Champions victory.  The Chubb Classic will welcome Gary Player back to Naples during the celebration of its 30th year in southwest Florida.  Mr. Player will tee it up in the official pro-am tournament and kick-off the first round of championship play with an honorary tee shot prior to the first round Friday morning, February 17.

Participants Announced for the Golf to Paraidse – First Tee Champions Challenge!

24 junior participants from across the country will compete at The TwinEagles Club

Naples, Fla. – On behalf of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Chubb Classic has invited junior golfers from across the country to participate in a three-day competition at The TwinEagles Club in Naples, Fla.  During the Chubb Classic, February 13 – 19, two participants from 12 different First Tee chapters (24 total participants) will travel to Naples in hopes of claiming victory of the 2017 Golf to Paradise – First Tee Champions Challenge.

“It is an honor for me to represent The First Tee of Naples/Collier in the 2017 Golf to Paradise – First Tee Champions Challenge,” said Makenzie Hotchkiss, participant from The First Tee of Naples/Collier.  “Matt and I are so excited to be the host participants for this year’s event and cannot wait to meet the other 22 First Tee players next month.  The First Tee has given me so many great opportunities not only on the golf course, but in life as well.  I am so grateful to everyone involved.”

The 2017 challenge boasts a 24 player field in which 23 junior golfers will compete in the program for the first time.  One participant from The First Tee of West Michigan, Dominic Luciani, will return in February for his second straight year competing in the Golf to Paradise – First Tee Champions Challenge.

“I am so excited to travel to Naples and represent The First Tee of West Michigan again,” said Dominic Luciani, returning junior participant from The First Tee of West Michigan.  “Having participated in last year’s event, I know a bit more about what to expect and cannot wait to return – I’m very grateful for this opportunity.”

Two-Day Food, Beer & Wine Festival Returns to the Chubb Classic

Tickets on sale now for upgraded food and beverage experience during the 2017 PGA TOUR Champions event

NAPLES, Fla.  – Taste of SW Florida presented by Cadillac, a two-day food, beer, wine and spirits festival, returns to the Chubb Classic February 17 and 18 at The TwinEagles Club.  Held in conjunction with the PGA TOUR Champions event, Taste of SW Florida presented by Cadillac will offer spectators an upgraded food and beverage experience on the TwinEagles Driving Range Friday and Saturday of event week.

“We’re excited to bring back the two-day festival during this year’s event and celebrate the region’s best restaurants, craft breweries, wineries and more,” said Matt Hilliker, Tournament Director.  “This event will offer an upgraded tasting experience for golf fans and provide local foodies with a taste of their favorites all in one spot.”

Taste of SW Florida presented by Cadillac ticket holders will be invited to sample tastes from some of Naples’ best restaurants.  Local and national craft beer, wine and spirits will also be paired with menu items and featured on the TwinEagles Driving Range during the 30th anniversary of the Chubb Classic.

General admission tickets to Taste of SW Florida presented by Cadillac are $35 per day and include access to the food festival on selected day, as well as general grounds admission into the Chubb Classic on respective day. Upgrade any one Chubb Classic ticket to include food festival access for only $20 per day and enjoy unlimited food and beverage samples.  Only a limited amount of tickets are available for purchase each day.

Returns to the Chubb Classic

Challenge grows to twelve First Tee Chapters including The First Tee of Naples/Collier

Naples, Fla. – The Golf to Paradise – First Tee Champions Challenge will expand to 12 First Tee Chapters from throughout the country when it returns to the Chubb Classic for its seventh year, February 17 – 19, 2017. On behalf of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau, 24 First Tee participants (two participants from each of the 12 different Chapters) will participate in a three-day golf competition taking place during the 30th anniversary of the Chubb Classic at The TwinEagles Club in Naples, Florida.

All nine participating Chapters from the 2016 Golf to Paradise – First Tee Champions Challenge will return for the 2017 event, including defending champions The First Tee of Chicago, The First Tee of Naples/Collier, The First Tee of Pittsburgh, The First Tee of Roanoke Valley, The First Tee of West Michigan, The First Tee of the Triangle, The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia, The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas and The First Tee of Atlanta. The remaining three Chapters making their debut at the 2017 event include The First Tee of the Twin Cities, The First Tee of Baltimore and The First Tee of Cleveland.

“Representing Chicago in the 2016 First Tee Champions Challenge, winning the tournament and having my name in the event’s history is an honor I will never forget,” said Abdel Raoul, The First Tee of Chicago participant and one of the 2016 Champions. “The event provided a VIP experience, including inside the ropes exposure and access to the PGA TOUR Champions players. During the 2017 event, 24 participants will play a total of nine holes each of the three days of competition with an alternative format each day. On Friday, the teams will play in a scramble, followed by a modified alternate shot on Saturday and closing with a better ball format on Sunday. The Chapter in which earns the highest amount of points throughout all three formats will be named the 2017 Golf to Paradise – First Tee Champions Challenge winners.

Chubb Classic Celebrates 30 Years in SW Florida

Tickets on Sale Now – Chubb Reduces Prices as Thank You to Community

NAPLES, Fla.  – The Chubb Classic, a signature event in SW Florida, will celebrate its 30th year in Naples, February 13-19, 2017 at The TwinEagles Club.  The tournament is the longest standing event in one metropolitan area on the PGA TOUR Champions.  Tickets are now on sale for the 2017 Chubb Classic, tournament officials announce today.  To recognize the support of fans and the SW Florida community, Chubb and the tournament are reducing general admission ticket prices by up to 40% for the 2017 event.

“The fact that this event has been in one place for 30 years and counting speaks volumes about the community we live in,” said Jack Wert, Executive Director, Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau.  “SW Florida has really embraced this event since day one and because of that, we continue to have the honor to host the legends of the game right here in our back-yard.”

Daily admission tickets for the 2017 tournament cost $15 per ticket and weekly general admission tickets cost $30 per ticket.  Kids, 17 and under, will receive free admission with a ticketed adult.

A limited number of upgraded tickets are available in the Talon Club for $125 per day.  The upgraded ticket provides admission to a premium viewing deck overlooking the 18th green and includes food and beverage, as well as an on-site parking pass.
