On behalf of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau, 24 First Tee participants (two participants from each of the 12 different Chapters) will participate in a three-day golf competition taking place during the 30th anniversary of the Chubb Classic at The TwinEagles Club in Naples, Florida.
All nine participating Chapters from the 2016 Golf to Paradise – First Tee Champions Challenge will return for the 2017 event, including defending champions The First Tee of Chicago, The First Tee of Naples/Collier, The First Tee of Pittsburgh, The First Tee of Roanoke Valley, The First Tee of West Michigan, The First Tee of the Triangle, The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia, The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas and The First Tee of Atlanta. The remaining three Chapters making their debut at the 2017 event include The First Tee of the Twin Cities, The First Tee of Baltimore and The First Tee of Cleveland.
“Representing Chicago in the 2016 First Tee Champions Challenge, winning the tournament and having my name in the event’s history is an honor I will never forget,” said Abdel Raoul, The First Tee of Chicago participant and one of the 2016 Champions. “The event provided a VIP experience, including inside the ropes exposure and access to the PGA TOUR Champions players. All the First Tee participants showed terrific sportsmanship throughout the Challenge demonstrating the Nine Core Values of The First Tee. I enjoyed the opportunity to meet new friends from across the country and thank The First Tee of Naples/Collier and the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau for being amazing hosts.”
During the 2017 event, 24 participants will play a total of nine holes each of the three days of competition with an alternative format each day. On Friday, the teams will play in a scramble, followed by a modified alternate shot on Saturday and closing with a better ball format on Sunday. The Chapter in which earns the highest amount of points throughout all three formats will be named the 2017 Golf to Paradise – First Tee Champions Challenge winners.
